True Greens —

Healthy meets quick.

2022

Project Overview

— The Product

True Greens is an order app for True Greens salad bars in Stockholm, aiming to provide easy ordering of salads and drinks in a quick and convenient way.
True Greens targets costumers such as busy office workers and young people who need a quick lunch fix.

— Project Duration

4 weeks (as part of Google UX Design Professional Certificate course).

— The Problem

Lunchtime queueing has become a growing pain to office workers in central Stockholm, busy workers and commuters lack the time to make a healthy lunch, that suits their dietary needs.

— The Goal

Design an app for True Greens, that allow users to easily pickup fresh, healthy orders, that suits their dietary restrictions.

— My Rule

Sole UX/UI designer.

— Responsibilities

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping Conducting usability studies and iterating on designs.

Design Process

Design Thinking is a design methodology that provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. It’s extremely useful in tackling complex problems that are ill-defined or unknown, by understanding the human needs involved, by re-framing the problem in human-centric ways, by creating many ideas in brainstorming sessions, and by adopting a hands-on approach in prototyping and testing.

Understanding the User

I have conducted interviews and created empathy maps to better understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. An identified primary user group was working adults who lack the time to make their lunches.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions about True Greens customers, but further research revealed that they need additional functions in the ordering process to suit their dietary restrictions better.

— Food is one of the basic necessities of humans, and it stands first among all basic needs — food, shelter, and clothing. It is important as it nourishes the human body — sustaining the very existences of humans. Yummy!

User Persona

User personas are archetypical users whose goals and characteristics represent the needs of a larger group of users. In the rapid designing process for True Greens, a proto persona of northern Stockholmer Johanna was created, based on existing assumptions about who True Greens’ customers might be, but not based on (new) research.

User Journey Map

The user journey map is represented as a timeline of all touch points between a user and a product. This timeline contains information about all channels that users use to interact with a product. For the True Green user it’ll be from getting the app until picking up their order.

User Flow

User flow is the path taken by our prototypical user Johanna on the app to complete a task. The user flow takes them from their entry point through a set of steps towards a successful outcome and final action, finalizing their order.

Wireframe

A layout of True Greens’ app that demonstrates what interface elements will exist on key pages was created for users to review it, as an early feedback mechanism for usability tests.

— Paper Wireframes (Lo-Fi)

— Digital Wireframes

Affinity Diagram

Once tested the prototype I could get valuable data insights (ideas, opinions, issues) and organizes them into groupings based on their natural relationships, which helped me improve the design and UX.

Visual Design

A quick brand guide for True Greens was created. It included typography, color and sticker sheet which includes the elements that make up layouts, status bars, bottom toolbars, cards, different fields, buttons, and other components.

Mockups

This project resulted in creating mockups for the app which are visual representation of a final product's screens. While designing the app at the beginnin I had some preconceived ideas around the product, but as I centered around the user I could discover new expectations, needs and paint points that made me design a better app for them. Allowing me to change different elements in th design as I moved within the design process.
